Getting to Know Miljana Jovanovic-Naskovic
Miljana Jovanović-Nasković is a graduate art manager and journalist with experience in media and internet marketing. Approaching her 40s, she decided to turn her passion for art into a lifelong vocation. Her love for all forms of art, especially performing arts, inspired her to bring art back to every person, woman, and child in this alienated world where art is often seen as a luxury. She aims to ensure that the voices, movements, and sounds of artists are heard and seen in both major cities and small towns, in the diaspora, and around the world, proudly representing Balkan culture.
Over time, Miljana has tried her hand at various art forms (music, dance, acting) and studied others through art history courses at university and travels across Europe (painting, sculpture). However, she leaves the practice of art to professionals: "Professionalism is a crucial component in any job, if not the most important one. I might dabble in acting as an amateur, but my sister, a professional actress, gives every emotion the necessary depth, meaning, and justification. Her performance isn't dependent on her current mood; she can reproduce it countless times with the same intensity. I'll do what I know best and what I was ultimately trained for—organizing, managing, mediating, and producing the creation and distribution of art on stages across the country and the world."
Miljana is a mother of two girls, a "programmer's wife," and a millennial with enough knowledge, experience, and contacts to establish herself as an art manager. "I consciously chose a field where one constantly learns about the channels through which performing arts are presented to younger audiences. This is a challenge I set for myself. Through continuous improvement, I strive to remain a worthy promoter of art and culture."
